My final project is over! 🙂 The game is available on itch : https://e13-studio.itch.io/the-curse-of-the-cursor If you want to get spoiled you can watch the full walkthrough below.
As my project will make the player travel through different modes of dimensions and colours, I have to produce different variants of each model. Here is an example with the first door encountered in the game.
The main focus for the past week was to model quest items. They all come from notorious video games. As you can see, the low-poly style was used for all of these items. They are also created in 2d pixelated to ensure their display during all phases of the game. These items will be what…Continue Reading “Quest Items Are Here!”
The first test session took place last week. I would like to thank the participants. Thanks to them, the prototype could be greatly improved in the days that followed. Especially with regard to the Flat 2D view which went from a sphere to a cube.
I finished to write the game script. It takes me more time than anticipated, but everything is in it. I managed to write all dialogues, elaborate all puzzles, and choose all special items the player will find in the game. All of this coupled with the in-game world map, you can get more than a…Continue Reading “The story continues…”
The design of the world map is complete. As the game will allow the player to choose how they will move around the world, I was forced to work with a grid. And since the game is about the history of video games, it quickly occurs to me to use that grid as pixels to…Continue Reading “World Map is Ready”
The Art of Game Design (Jesse Schell, 3rd edition, CRC Press) is a wonderful book on game design. It covers all aspects of the long task of bringing a game to life. November 15th – Project progress Maya I ask myself the questions that is in the title … Should I work with 3-edged or 4-edged faces or both? And should all vertexes be aligned or not?
